Lady Saints, Rams Renew Rivalry in NCAAs

GAFFNEY, S.C. — Fourth-ranked Limestone will lock
horns at fifth-ranked West Chester on Saturday May 15th in the
quarterfinals of the 2010 NCAA Division II Women's Lacrosse
Championships. The Lady Saints will play at the Lady Rams' Vonnie
Gros Field on the West Chester campus with the opening draw time to
be determined. The winner moves to play Lock Haven in the
semifinals on Saturday, May 22nd with the title tilt slated for the
following day on Sunday, May 23. The semifinals and championship
will be hosted by Gettysburg (PA) College. Pairings were announced
late Sunday night.
This marks the third consecutive season and fifth overall in the
tournaments 10-year history, that Limestone has earned a bid to the
national tournament and seeks its first appearance in the national
title game. The Lady Saints, who had a quarterfinal round bye last
season, fell to Lock Haven 13-12 in the semifinals.
Limestone, which has won 12 straight, is currently 18-1 while West
Chester is 17-1. Both losses have come to top-ranked Lock Haven
which beat Limestone 11-10 at Saints Field on March 14 and won at
West Chester 16-6 on May 1st in the PSAC Championship. The setbacks
were also the only ones in 18 South Region games both Limestone and
West Chester.
Limestone and West Chester have already met three times previously
in the national tournament with the Lady Rams taking all of the
meetings and in the semifinals in 2008 (17-9), 2006 (10-8) and the
first in 2004 (23-12).
