No. 2 Lock Haven Breezes Past Gannon

from press release

LOCK HAVEN, Pa.
- The No. 2 Lock Haven University lacrosse team (3-0, 1-0 PSAC West) defeated No. 10 Gannon University (3-2, 0-1 PSAC West) 18-6 in its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West and home-opener today on Charlotte E. Smith field.

Allison Berger (Oreland, Pa./Springfield) netted the first of her four goals just under five minutes into play to give the Lady Eagles a lead they never lost.

Eight different Lady Eagles found the back of the net on the afternoon.

Leading the way for LHU was senior-captain Leigh Titus (Towaco, N.J./Montville) with a game-high five goals.

Titus's five-goal performance lands her just two goals shy of breaking the school-record in career goals. The record stands at 211 and is currently held by 2009 graduate Amber Hoch.

Kate Smyth (Levittown, Pa./Pennsbury), Elyse Fisher (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) and Gwen Buss (Mercersburg, Pa./Mercersburg Academy) each netted two goals on the day.

The tenacious LHU defender Katie Zichelli (South Orange, N.J./Columbia) was all over the field today shutting down the Golden Knights attack.

Zichelli rounded up a game-high eight ground balls and caused seven of Gannon's 21 turnovers.

Winning goalkeeper Kira Nuttall (Loch Raven, Baltimore) made five stops between the pipes.

The Lady Eagles travel to Indiana, Pa. to take on the Crimson Hawks (2-2, 0-0 PSAC West) on Monday, March 22 at 4 p.m.
