No. 2 Lock Haven Breezes Past Gannon

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The No. 2 Lock Haven University lacrosse
team (3-0, 1-0 PSAC West) defeated No. 10 Gannon University (3-2,
0-1 PSAC West) 18-6 in its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference
(PSAC) West and home-opener today on Charlotte E. Smith field.
Allison Berger (Oreland, Pa./Springfield) netted the first of her
four goals just under five minutes into play to give the Lady
Eagles a lead they never lost.
Eight different Lady Eagles found the back of the net on the
afternoon.
Leading the way for LHU was senior-captain Leigh Titus (Towaco,
N.J./Montville) with a game-high five goals.
Titus's five-goal performance lands her just two goals shy of
breaking the school-record in career goals. The record stands at
211 and is currently held by 2009 graduate Amber Hoch.
Kate Smyth (Levittown, Pa./Pennsbury), Elyse Fisher (Jackson,
N.J./Jackson Memorial) and Gwen Buss (Mercersburg, Pa./Mercersburg
Academy) each netted two goals on the day.
The tenacious LHU defender Katie Zichelli (South Orange,
N.J./Columbia) was all over the field today shutting down the
Golden Knights attack.
Zichelli rounded up a game-high eight ground balls and caused seven
of Gannon's 21 turnovers.
Winning goalkeeper Kira Nuttall (Loch Raven, Baltimore) made five
stops between the pipes.
The Lady Eagles travel to Indiana, Pa. to take on the Crimson Hawks
(2-2, 0-0 PSAC West) on Monday, March 22 at 4 p.m.
