Bentley No Match for No. 4 Limestone

GAFFNEY, S.C. - The No. 4 Lady Saints lacrosse team defeated visiting Bentley University 18-8 on Saturday afternoon at Saints Field. Limestone improves to 7-0 overall as the Falcons fall to 1-2.

Kelly Lickert (Penn Yan, N.Y.) led the Lady Saints with five goals. Melissa Howard (Ferndale, Md.), Lauryn Wise (Pasadena, Md.), and Renee Albro (Purcellville, Va.) added three goals apiece, as Katie Ilott (Whitby, Ontario, Canada) and Kelly Lalonde (Henrietta, N.Y.) each added two. Howard had a game-high three assists. Kelly Oterson (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) tallied two assists as Casey Wilcox (Liverpool, N.Y.) added another.

Lady Saint goalkeeper Brigid Milchling posted seven saves in the win. Oterson and Ilott recorded three ground balls each as Howard led the team with two caused turnovers. Wise had a team-high four draw controls.

Alyssa Ritchie (North Andover, Mass.) accounted for half of her team's final score as she tallied four goals. Jaclyn Griffin (Barrington, Ill.) had a hat trick as Erica De Silva (Dartmouth, Mass.) scored once. Leah Levitt (Hollinston, Mass.) led her team with two assists.

Bentley's Christina Guglielmo (Fair Haven, N.J.) posted 9 saves as Katie Poznick (Fitchburg, Mass.) recorded two. Lauren Canepa (Hingham, Mass.) recorded six draw controls as Torre Taylor (Locust Valley, N.Y.) had three. Leavitt picked up three ground balls. Lisa Petitto (Wakefield, Mass.) caused three turnovers.

Bentley scored the game's first goal just a minute into the match, but Limestone recovered to take the lead that the Lady Saints never relinquished.  Limestone held an 11-4 advantage at halftime, and outscored the visitors 7-4 in the second period.

Both teams recorded 13 draw controls. The Lady Saints outshot Bentley 39-24 and picked up 20 ground balls to the Falcons' 18. Bentley was 8-18 in clears and 0-7 in free-position shots. Limestone was 16-21 in clears and scored 5 goals from free-position attempts.

Bentley travels to New Haven, Conn., to play New Haven on March 21 at 11 a.m. Limestone heads to Laurinburg, N.C., to play St. Andrews on March 18 at 4 p.m.
