Denver Cruises to 18-6 Win over Old Dominion

DENVER - University of Denver seniorJenn Etzel (Bel Air, Md.) had a goal and a career-high five assists, leading the Pioneers to their 13th-straight win with an 18-6 nonconference victory against Old Dominion at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Junior Kiki Boone (Cherry Hills, Co.) had a career-high four goals, and Jill Remenapp (Woodbine, Md.) added two goals and three assists for the Pioneers (15-1, 8-0 MPSF).
Denver lead the entire game, and all four seniors scored with Meredith Harris(Middleburg, Va.) had a hat trick, while Annabelle Gilbride (Alexandria, Va.) andSonorah Vinyard (Denver, Co.) recorded one each. Vinyard added five draw controls and three caused turnovers against the Monarchs (3-11).
"We're really excited. Everyone did a great job, it was a fun day on a great day," head coach Liza Kelly said. "The seniors are happy to score, but even more happy that we won to stay undefeated at home once again. Looking ahead, Oregon is always a tough opponent. It will be good to face them heading into the conference tournament and keeping us on our toes."
Sophomore Christa Reese (Lutherville, Md.) scored a hat trick, and freshman Layne Voorhees (Alexandria, Va.) registered five caused turnovers and three ground balls.
Redshirt junior Hannah Hook (Arnold, Md.) made nine saves, including three in the second half, as she split time in goal with freshman Maddy Stevenson (Bainbridge Island, Wash.).
The Pioneers finish the regular season on the road Friday, April 25 in Eugene, Ore., where they will take on the Oregon Ducks at 6 p.m., MT. If the Pioneers beat Oregon or the Ducks lose any of their three remaining MPSF games, Denver will clinch the No. 1 seed in the MPSF Tournament. A DU win would also give the Pioneers a perfect record in conference play for the second-consecutive year.
The MPSF Conference Tournament will be held May 1-4 at
Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium.
