No. 17 Albany Doubles Up Hofstra, Off to 7-0 Start

ALBANY, N.Y.- University at Albany
women’s lacrosse (7-0) took its seventh-straight victory on
Saturday afternoon, a 10-5 win against Hofstra (5-5). Ariana Parker
led all scorers with four goals.
Parker got UAlbany off to a fast start, scoring less than 1:30 into the first half. Fellow senior Allie Phelan tallied her 11th goal of the season shortly after to give the Great Danes a 2-0 lead. Both goals were unassisted.
Dakotah Savitcheff tallied her first goal of the game from Rachel Bowles to give UAlbany a 3-1 lead. Both teams went scoreless for the final 15 minutes of the half, until Phelan recorded her second goal of the game with 1:21 left on the clock in the first to make it 4-1 UAlbany at the half.
Bowles and Parker scored unassisted to open the second half and give UAlbany a 6-1 lead. The Pride came within three with 16:44 to go, but Bowles and Parker scored one apiece to give the Great Danes an 8-3 lead with seven minutes remaining.
Hofstra pushed its midfield forward in an effort to narrow the margin. The Pride scored two goals to make the UAlbany lead 8-5 before pulling goalie Kelsey Gregerson with about two minutes left. Parker and Savitcheff scored on an empty net to take the 10-5 win.
Parker led UAlbany with four goals. The senior has scored in each of her last eight games dating back to 2013, and 13 of her last 14 since last season. Bowles, Phelan and Savitcheff scored two goals each for UAlbany.
Anna Berman made 11 saves in the cage for UAlbany with five goals against.
The Great Danes are out to their best start since 2011, when John Battaglino’s squad went 19-0 before falling in the NCAA quarterfinals to Northwestern.
UAlbany (7-0) visits Niagara (3-3) on Monday, March 24 at 2:00 p.m.
