Towson Wins on Road at Cal to Even Record

Led by a strong first half effort, the Towson University women's lacrosse team earned an impressive 19-11 road victory over the California Bears on Thursday evening. The win was Towson's second straight and evened the team's record at 4-4.
Andi Raymond and Taylor Moore each scored four goals in the win for the Tigers.
Raymond added two assists in the win, while Ashleigh Rohrback posted three goals and four assists as part of the victory.
Paige Gasparino notched five points on four goals and an assist, but it wasn't enough for California.
The Bears (2-3) had two other scorers find the back of the net multiple times, as Bella Huther and Gaby Christman had two goals each. Christman also notched an assist. In addition, Nicole Beck chipped in three points with a goal and two assists. Gasparino and Christman tallied nine and eight shots, respectively, and Gasparino converted on both of her free-position attempts.
Towson got off to a hot start with three goals in the first five minutes of the contest. The Tigers went on to notch seven of the first eight goals of the first half to take control of the game. Caroline Schlegel scored with 13 seconds left in the half to cut Towson's lead to 13-5 at the break. Schlegel led all players with five draw controls, as well.
Cal and Towson scored six goals each in the second half, but the Tigers scored three of the first four to continue its stranglehold of the game. Towson held an 11-goal lead with seven minutes left before the Bears went on to score the final three goals of the day, including two from Gasparino.
The Bears will trek to the East Coast for their next three games. First up on the road trip is a meeting with La Salle on Monday, March 24, at 4 p.m. PT. Cal returns to Kabam Field at Memorial Stadium on Thursday, April 6, vs. Oregon at 7 p.m. There will be no live video on CalBears.com for that game because it will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Networks.
