Brown Beats Princeton for First Time Since 1991

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Senior Bre Hudgins
(Syracuse, NY) scored her third goal of the game with 32 seconds
remaining in the second overtime period to lift the Brown women's
lacrosse team to a stunning 14-13 win over Princeton Saturday
afternoon at Stevenson Field, giving the Bears their first win over
the Tigers since 1991.
Brown junior Alyssa DiBona (Media, PA) won the draw control in the second overtime period and the Bears held the ball for a last minute shot. Hudgins took a pass from senior Danielle Mastro (Endicott, NY) with 32 seconds left on the clock and buried the game-winner into the back of the net. Senior Grace Healy (Bellport, NY) captured the draw control for the Bears that enabled Brown to run out the clock and set off a wild celebration.
Mastro led the Bears with four goals and two assists, while sophomore Lauren Toy (Kentfield, CA) added three goals.
Bears' junior goalie Kellie Roddy (Poway, CA) kept the Tigers at bay for most of the second half, allowing just two goals after intermission, while making 13 saves overall.
The Tigers were led by Alexandra Bruno, who scored three goals and an assist, while Mary-Kate Sivilli added three goals.
Coach Keely McDonald's Brown team had the better of play in the early going, building a 7-5 lead 13 minutes into the game an unassisted goal by Hudgins.
The Tigers outscored the Bears 6-0 to end the opening half and grab an 11-7 lead at halftime. Six different Princeton players scored goals in the spurt.
Brown was a different team in the second half, scoring the first six goals to pull ahead by a 13-11 margin with 9:42 left to play. Toy and Mastro netted two goals each in the 6-0 Brown run.
The Tigers came back to send the game into overtime on goals by Sivilli with 2:08 remaining and Anna Doherty with just 1:07 remaining.
Brown is back in action again on Wednesday, March 12, traveling to Worcester, MA, to battle Holy Cross. Game time is 4 pm.
