from press release
BURLINGTON, Vt. - Junior Moira Barry scored a season-high four goals to lead No. 19/17 Boston College past Vermont, 12-6, at Virtue Field on Friday evening.
The Eagles (8-6, 3-2 ACC) used a 5-0 run from the 22:23 mark to the 12:10 mark in the second half to take an 11-5 lead and distance themselves from the Catamounts (6-9, 1-3 AE).
Sophomore Mikaela Rix recorded five points on three goals and two assists, and classmate Covie Stanwick registered four points on a goal and three assists. Juniors Cali Ceglarski and Kate McCarthy each scored twice.
BC opened the second half with three straight goals to stake a 5-2 edge just under three minutes into the period. Barry started the run with a goal from the right side. Ceglarski then won the ensuing draw and connected from straight on just 15 seconds after Barry's tally. Rix closed the run with an unassisted goal.
After UVM scored three of the game's next four goals to pull within 6-5 with 22:54 left, BC then went on its decisive 5-0 run to take an 11-6 lead with 12:10 to play. Ceglarski opened the run's scoring, attacking the goal from straight on to register her second tally of the game.
Barry then scored BC's next two goals - her third and fourth of the game - the first off a feed from Stanwick after a fake pass and the second off a feed from Rix. McCarthy then scored twice in a row to close the run scoring, the first off a pass from Stanwick and the second attacking goal on her own.
Stanwick opened the game's scoring just over four minutes into the contest. Rix found her classmate in front of the net, and Stanwick fired the ball past the goalie. After over 15 minutes of scoreless play, the Catamounts recorded their first goal knotting the score at 1-1 with 9:45 left in the first. UVM scored again just over five minutes later to take a 2-1 edge.
The Eagles tied the game again with 2:12 remaining in the half as Barry took a feed from Stanwick in front of the net and snapped a one-timer into the back of the net.
