Richmond Takes Down La Salle

from press release

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- Richmond cruised past La Salle, 19-13, Sunday afternoon in Philadelphia.

"It was a great team win," said head coach Allison Evans. "Everyone contributed to the points we put up offensively and to the defensive stops. This is what we need to propel ourselves through conference play and into the A-10 Tournament."

La Salle (8-4, 0-3) had the game's first goal, but Richmond (4-9, 1-2) scored three-straight in a four-minute span to take a 3-1 lead at the 23:52 mark. An unassisted Explorer goal would tie the game at 4-all, but the Spiders quickly took control with seven consecutive goals to take a commanding 11-4 lead with 5:12 remaining in the half.

La Salle would get to within a four-goal deficit twice, but Richmond's early lead would not be relinquished.

Caitlin Fifield scored a game-high six goals, which is also a season-high total for the Tewaaraton Watch List nominee. Kara Moschetti led Richmond with eight points on the day (4g, 4a) while Sam Stevenson chipped in with four goals. Bailey Zerr added a hat trick.

Hayley Ross picked up a team-high three ground balls, while Zerr secured a team-high six draw controls. Taylor Blazer and Anna Jeszeck led Richmond with three caused turnovers, respectively.

Richmond outshot La Salle, 33-26, and won the draw, 18-16. Michaela Aymong had 11 saves in goal.

Richmond returns to Robins Stadium for a three-game homestand beginning with Duquesne Friday, Apr. 12 at 4 p.m.
