Lauren Roberts (Baldwinsville, N.Y. / C.W. Baker) would increase the lead for RMU with her fourth goal of the season. Roberts' goal was followed by Emily Jamison's (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Hills) first of three goals in the contest as the Colonials jumped out to a 4-0 lead.
Kaitlin Pentz (Sykesville, Md. / Century) would keep the Flames off of the scoreboard for the first 20 minutes of the half while making two of her five first-half saves before allowing a goal. Liberty would cut the RMU lead in half with a second goal with six minutes remaining to make the score 4-2.
Jessica Rutherford (Pylesville, Md. / North Harford) would start her road to a hat trick with a goal in the final two minutes of the half. The Flames would close out the first half scoring with a goal coming just 21 seconds before the horn to end the first half as Robert Morris held a 5-3 advantage.
Liberty would open the scoring in the second half and come within a goal of the Colonials with the score 5-4 before Jamison would answer with her second goal of the game to regain the two-goal advantage for the Colonials. The Flames would again come within a goal of Robert Morris with 7:35 remaining in the second half.
The Colonials would close out the game with three of the final four goals as Rutherford and Jamison each completed their hat tricks before Liberty would add one final goal with 15 seconds remaining. Pentz would finish the game with ten saves as she improved to 4-3 on the season.
The Colonials return to home to Joe Walton Stadium for two games next weekend as they open up conference play in the NEC. RMU will host Bryant on Friday, March 22 at 3:00 p.m. before playing host to Central Connecticut State on Sunday.
