Bonnies Record First Shutout in Program History

DOVER, DEL. – For the first time in its 13 season program history, the St. Bonaventure women's lacrosse team (3-0) held its opponent scoreless, blanking the Hornets of Delaware State by a score of 19-0 on Sunday afternoon.
Cara Callahan started the scoring for the Brown and White less than two minutes into the game. The Bonnies never looked back and piled on 15 goals in the first half. Callahan scored four of her career high five goals in the opening frame. The five scores is also the highest total by a single Bonaventure player in a game this season.
The team's leading scorer, Jenna Schlagenhauf, tallied three more goals, giving her 11 for the season, while handing out a career-best four assists. Taylor Ventre, Marybeth Madia and Carrie Kubasta each added two goals. Elspeth McGarry,Mackenzie Jordan, Lauren Michaels and Caroline Franz each added one goal. Mikayla Place scored once while also dishing out a team-high five assists off the bench.
Karly Kocis becomes the winning goalkeeper in the first shutout in program history making two saves. But she will share the historic performance with Sara Schlagenhauf who played the second half, making one save.
The historic performance already matches the win total from the 2012 squad and the Bonnies will have a chance to improve upon their unbeaten start when they visit Niagara on Tuesday (Mar. 12) at 7:00 p.m.
