Denver Rallies Past San Diego State for Eighth Straight Win

sophomore Rachael Dillon (Mount Sinai, N.Y.) recorded her
first career hat-trick to lead the Pioneers to a 13-9
come-from-behind road victory over Mountain Pacific Sports
Federation foe San Diego State at Aztec Lacrosse Field on Friday
afternoon. With the win, Denver extended its winning streak to
Sophomore Jill Remenapp (Woodbine, Md.) continued her scoring ways, adding four goals, all in the second half, and two assists for the Pioneers (10-1, 2-0 MPSF), while redshirt junior Jenn Etzel (Bel Air, Md.) scored a goal and tallied two assists.
After San Diego State (6-3, 1-1 MPSF) jumped out to a 6-3 first half lead, Denver responded with three-straight goals in the final 3:39 to tie the game 6-6 going into halftime.
The Crimson and Gold came out and scored the first three goals of the second half to take a 9-6 lead and cap-off a six-goal run. Dillon scored two goals in that stretch, as did freshman Rachael McKinnon (Brooklin, Ontario).
SDSU cut the lead to 10-9 with 4:16 remaining in the game, but the Pioneers got two goals from Remenapp and one from Etzel to seal the victory.
Defensively, senior Kate Henrich (Lansdale, Pa.) registered five ground balls and two caused turnovers, and redshirt-sophomore goalie Hannah Hook (Arnold, Md.) made nine saves to earn the victory.
The Pioneers finish their first MPSF road trip of 2013 against Southern California on Sunday, March 31 at 2 p.m. MT.
