Junior Jenn Etzel (Bel Air, Md.) tallied four goals and two assists for the Pioneers (3-1). "It was a very exciting game having a ranked opponent come in for our home opener," head coach Liza Kelly said. "After last week's game at Delaware we felt that we were one dimensional offensively with our attack. We stressed all week at practice to trust everyone and get after them right away, and that's what we did."
The Pioneers jumped out to a 3-0 lead before the Cardinals (3-1) finally got on the board with 16:52 remaining in the first half. Harris and Etzel each scored two goals apiece in the first half. DU took an 8-5 lead into the locker room.
Louisville brought the game to within three at 11-8 in the second half, but Denver responded with four-straight goals over the next four minutes to put the game out of reach.
Denver returns to action the on Monday at 1 p.m., when High Point visits Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium.
