Denver Edges Drexel for Eighth Straight Win

Junior attack Kara Secora (Denver, Colo.) helped aid the Pioneers (8-1, 2-0 MSPF) to their eighth-straight win with three goals and an assist. Senior midfielder Melissa Maier (Farmingdale, N.Y.) added two goals and an assist along with seven draw controls for the Pioneers, and freshman Jill Remenapp (Woodbine, Md.) had one goal and two assists.
"We've been working with Maier on draw controls and she got seven today, which is pretty impressive," Kelly said.
Denver recorded the game's first four goals. Drexel (7-3) answered with the half's final three goals, giving the Pioneers a 4-3 lead at the half. The Dragons got within one with 20:35 to go in the second half, making it 7-6. However, the Pioneers tallied the next three goals, giving them the lead for good.
Denver outshot Drexel 28-19 and held the 14-10 advantage in draw controls. Alyse Maiden led the Dragons with three goals and two assists.
The Pioneers return to action at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium on Saturday, April 7, when they take on Stanford at 1 p.m. MT.
