No. 18 Albany Downs Mason for Third Straight

FAIRFAX, Va. - Rachael Burek tabbed five goals
on seven shots to lead all scorers as No. 18 University at Albany
won its third straight with a 12-5 victory over George Mason
Saturday, March 10 in non-conference women's lacrosse action.
Burek collected three first half goals to put the Great Danes up 4-1 just nine minutes into the game and she collected two insurance goals in the second half. Jess Antelmi contributed another career game with two goals and five assists and picked up two ground balls and one caused turnover. Ariana Parker scored three goals in the winning effort.
UAlbany (4-1) commanded the second half with a 15-7 shot advantage and 6-2 scoring margin. The Great Danes took seven of nine draw controls in that half as well. The Great Danes took a 2-1 lead with 24:48 remaining in the first half and held onto it for the games entirety.
Antelmi began the second stanza scoring 55 seconds in for a 7-3 UAlbany lead. Parker and Burek each registered two goals in the six-goal half and Maureen Keggins completed all scoring in the game with her third on the season with 58 seconds remaining.
George Mason (1-5) looked to stay in the game in the first half with two consecutive goals to bring the score to 4-3 with 15:33 on the clock, but only managed two more goals in the game. Emily Ellisen tallied twice for the Patriots and won six draw controls.
In goal, Anna Berman managed four saves for her third win on the season. Brittany Pastrana made eight saves between the pipes for George Mason in the losing effort.
The Great Danes will return to Albany with a three-game homestand starting with No. 18/13 Boston College Wednesday, March 14 at 3:00 p.m. on John Fallon Field.
