UMass Erupts for 20 to Beat Marist

AMHERST, Mass. - Lauren Terracciano scored five
goals as nine different Minutewomen posted points in the UMass
women's lacrosse team's 20-7 win over Marist on Saturday afternoon
at McGuirk Stadium. With the win, UMass improves to 3-0 on the
season and will host long-time New England rival New Hampshire next
Along with her five goals, Terracciano added two assists for seven points. Sam Rush scored four goals, while Tanner Guarino added three goals and an assist. Ellie Bullitt had a career-high five point game with a goal and four assists.
Katie Florence earned the win in goal playing the first half and making one save. Rachel Vallarelli played just over 24 minutes of the second half, while Jamie Schiloski played the final six minutes.
Jamie Romano led Marist (0-2) with four goals. Ashley Miller had a pair of tallies, while Emily Leonard rounded out the scoring with one. Ashley Casiano took the loss playing just under 37 minutes in cage making five saves while allowing 11 goals. Liz Holmes finished the game making one save.
UMass jumped out to a 5-0 lead with Terracciano scoring a pair of her four first half goals in the first nine minutes of play. Romano scored the first of her four goals in the game at the 14:47 mark of the first half, but two more goals from Terracciano and the second of the day from Guarino made it 8-1 UMass with 7:39 left until halftime.
Marist closed the half with a pair of goals including a free position from Miller with five seconds to go cutting the lead to 8-3 at the break.
The Minutewomen started the second half with a three goal run highlighted by a goal and an assist from Bullitt.
Rush scored three straight goals followed by a fourth after a pair of Cori Murray scores giving UMass a 19-5 lead with five minutes to go.
After a pair of Marist goals, Melissa Carelli converted a free position shot with seven seconds left giving the final 20-7 score.
UMass outshot Marist 33-to-10 for the game and won 20-of-29 draw controls in the game.
