St. Joe's Doubles Up Wagner for First Win

PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's women's
lacrosse team took a 7-5 lead at the end of the first half and held
on to defeat Wagner, 14-7, on Saturday afternoon at Finnesey Field.
Senior Grace Dinn netted six goals on the day to help propel Saint
Joseph's to its first win.
Senior Julie Mineweaser got the Hawks on the board at 27:31 to start a three-goal run. Senior Carly Kindbom and sophomore Abby Ananian scored a goal a piece to open up an early 3-0 lead. The Seahawks would answer with three of their own to tie the game at 3-3, midway though the first.
Seniors Meghan McDevitt, Kindbom, Dinn, and junior Gwen Nihill each added goals to make it 7-3 before two quick goals at the end of the half made if 7-5.
Dinn went on to add five more goals in the second half to help seal the victory as senior Jen Peters added two more and Ananian added another.
The Hawks converted 15 clear attempts of their 16 attempted and turned the ball over just eight times to Wagner's 14.
Goalkeeper Alisha Aquilino made six saves between the pipes.
Saint Joseph's (1-1) returns to action when it hosts Monmouth on Tuesday. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. at Finnesey Field.
