PHILADELPHIA - Senior Kristina Barrett tallied four of the University of Oregon's 10 goals as the lacrosse program earned their first victory of the young season over La Salle, 10-6 on Sunday morning at McCarthy Stadium in Philadelphia, Pa.
The Ducks (1-1) got out to an early 3-0 lead over the first 10 minutes of the match before the Explorers (0-1) were able to get on the board moving the tally to 3-1.
Freshman Nikki Puszcz got the first goal of her Oregon career and the first of the match after the Ducks got possession after La Salle committed three straight fouls.
Less than two minutes later, senior Jana Drummond found her classmate Barrett for the second UO goal at 24:04. The Ducks did not let up from that point as Barrett created Puszcz's second goal of the match at 21:10.
Despite the Explorers climbing back into the match at the under 10 minute mark, sophomore Shannon Propst tallied her only goal of the match and fourth of the season to give the Ducks a 4-2 lead.
With 1:38 left in the first 30 minutes of play, Barrett put Oregon ahead 5-2 at the end the half.
UO continued its scoring attack to open the second half as sophomore Hayley Milnerput the Ducks ahead 6-2 off the pass from senior Jess Drummond.
La Salle got within two goals of UO three times in the second half, but just could not overcome the Ducks.
Oregon capped off the match with a goal by sophomore Sami Kiser with just 17 seconds left to secure the win.
Sophomore Caroline Federighi (1-1) picked up the win with eight saves on 18 faced shots while Megan Corliss (0-1) recorded the loss with a game-high 12 saves.
Barrett also added two assists to her four goals.
Six different Explorers recorded goals in Sunday's match.
