Georgetown Adds Nine New Recruits

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University
women's lacrosse squad had nine student-athlete sign National
Letters of Intent committing to GU from the Class of 2011. The
Hoyas will welcome three midfielders, three attackers and three
defenders to campus in the fall of 2011.
"These nine athletes have everything we're looking for in a
Georgetown women's lacrosse player," said head coach Ricky Fried.
"They'll add depth and talent at all positions and really increase
our athleticism. They are the patented Georgtown student-athlete,
great players but an even better people. We feel they'll really fit
into the Georgetown system both on and off of the field."
Carolina Seats (Baltimore, Md./Roland Park Country) is one of three
midfielders joining the squad. Seats was a 2010 All-Tewaaraton
selection and was named to the Baltimore Sun First Team last season
as a junior. Seats is ranked fifth nationally for 2011
midfielders
Joining Seats is Mollie Caputo (Manulis, N.Y./Fayetteville-Maulis)
who is also ranked among the top middies sitting at number six. She
was a member of the 2010 Under Armour underclassmen team out of
upstate New York. Both Seats and Caputo have a tradition at
Georgetown with older sisters going through the program.
Rounding out the midfielders is Adrianne Devine (Latham,
N.Y./Shaker), who was a 2010 US Lacrosse High School
All-American.
For the attackers, Lauren Schwalje (South Huntington, N.Y./St.
Anthony's) ranked fifth among her position in the Class of 2011.
She was a US Lacrosse All-American last season and has been one of
the most potent aggressive attackers in the class.
Caroline Tarzian (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) was a 2010
All-American and ranks tenth on the ESPN Rise attacker listing. She
led the way as Garden City won the New York Class B state
championship. She was also the Newsday Player of the Year.
Sam Giordano (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) is the third attacker
joining the squad. She was an all-county selection as a junior as
well as a US Lacrosse Academic All-America honoree.
Megan Marinelli (Northport, N.Y./Northport) is a talented defender
that ranks 12th among her peers on defense.
Joining Marinelli on defense is Casey McGowan (West Islip,
N.Y./West Islip), who ranks 18th on ESPN Rise's list as well as
Betsy Holland (South Huntington, N.Y./St. Anthony's). McGowan was a
US Lacrosse Academic All-American, while Holland was an Under
Armour All-American and high school teammate of Schwalje.
The Hoyas currently have the top recruiting class in the nation on
campus and will welcome the Class of 2011 to the Hilltop next
August.
