Florida Signs Seven to Class of 2015

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - University of Florida
lacrosse head coach Amanda O'Leary announced the Gator recruiting
class of 2015 on Friday.
"The class of 2015 is an extremely talented group of
student-athletes," O'Leary said. "They excel on the field as well
as in the classroom. They are a positive presence in their
communities, and our staff is extremely excited to have the
opportunity to coach these outstanding young women throughout their
collegiate careers. We are lucky to have them wearing the Orange
and Blue, and they will certainly leave their mark on the
University of Florida Lacrosse Program."
Nora Barry * Camillus, NY * Marcellus Central High School
* Star Riders
Barry was named a 2010 US Lacrosse All American and 2010 US
Lacrosse Academic All American. She is entering her fifth year of
varsity lacrosse for Marcellus High School, playing for Coach Dick
Lundblad, with 197 career goals, 47 assists and 337 ground balls.
Barry has also earned varsity letters in Cross Country and Indoor
Track. She earned First Team All Central New York in 2010 and First
Team All Liberty League in 2008, 2009 and 2010, while also being
awarded her Marcellus teams MVP award in 2010. Barry was named to
the 2009 and 2010 US Lacrosse Upstate National Team #1 and the 2010
Central Empire State Games team. She also plays for the Star Riders
Lacrosse Club under coach Dick Lighton, winning the Syracuse Nike
Cup Tournament in 2008 and 2009. Recently named to the Rising
Senior Watch List by Inside Lacrosse Magazine, the No. 21 recruit
in the country and Top Ten Midfielder, both by ESPN Rise, Barry has
also earned High Honor Roll each semester at Marcellus and is a
member of National Honor Society. She has also performed for 12
years with the Camillus Dance Center and 4 years with the Main
Street Ballet.
Shannon Gilroy * East Northport, NY * Northport High
School * Long Island Yellow Jackets
Gilroy has been a starter on Northports Varsity Lacrosse team
since her eighth grade year. She has been named an All-American
(sophomore and junior seasons), All-Tournament (freshman, sophomore
and junior seasons), All-County (freshman, sophomore and junior
seasons), All-League (freshman, sophomore and junior seasons), and
was the captain and MVP of the Northport team in her junior season,
while also earning MVP honors for Northport as a sophomore. She was
also named Suffolk County Player of the Year as well as All Long
Island Player of the Year in 2010 while being named All Long Island
in 2009. In the classroom, Gilroy has been named a Scholar-Athlete
from her freshman to junior years. She was recently ranked as the
No. 5 recruit in the country by ESPN Rise.
Nicole Graziano * Mendham, NJ * West Morris Mendham High
School * STEPS ELITE BLUE
Graziano was named First Team All-American, First Team All-State,
First Team All-County, First-Team All-Conference, First Team
All-Area and an NJIGLL Stripe in her junior season. She was
Mendhams leading scorer as a junior while the team was ranked 16th
in the nation. In 2009, Graziano was an Under Armour Underclassman
All-American and was named All-Iron Hills. She is also a fixture on
West Morris soccer team, playing midfield, and is currently playing
in the state tournament. In soccer, Graziano has been named First
Team All-County and First Team All-Conference in her junior season,
First Team All-Conference and Second Team All-County as a
sophomore, and Honorable Mention All-Conference and Honorable
Mention All-Area as a freshman. She is consistently on Mendhams
honor roll and was Student Council Vice President as a
freshman.
Sally Jentis * Ridgewood, NJ * Ridgewood High School *
Metro Lacrosse Club
Jentis is the starting center for the Ridgewoood High School 2010
New Jersey State Champion Lacrosse team. In her junior season, she
led the team in draw controls with a season total of 63, the
second-highest single-season total for Ridgewood. She also led her
team in forced turnovers and was second on the team in ground
balls. At the end of the season, she was named Most Valuable
Attacker and was named one of the captains for her senior season.
Jentis is a member of the US Lacrosse U19 National Training Team,
and while she predominately plays midfield, was recently named one
of the top five defenders in the nation by and is listed as the No.
16 recruit in the country, both by ESPN Rise . In her junior
season, she was named to Third Team All-State, First Team
All-County and First Team All-Suburban. Jentis played on the NNJ
School Girls Team #1 her sophomore and junior year as well as the
NJ Under Amour All American Underclassman Team following her
freshman and sophomore seasons. Jentis plays club lacrosse for the
Metro Magic Blue team, and was a member of the Ridgewood Varsity
Soccer Team.
Taylor McCord * St. Augustine, FL * Bartram Trail High
School *LaxManiax
McCord, the only Florida native in this years signing day class,
was named First Team All-State as a sophomore and junior, while
collecting her teams Most Valuable Attacker award in 2010. She is a
three-year team captain for Bartram Trail, two-time District
champions, while being named North Florida Player of the Year, team
MVP and US Lacrosse Honorable Mention All-American as a sophomore.
As a freshman, McCord was Second Team All-State. She is already
Bartram Trails all-time leading scorer (275 points187 goals and 88
assists) and all-time career leader in ground balls (132) and draw
controls (130). She is a member of the LaxManiax Black team, having
played in the 2009 and 2010 Under Armour All-American Underclassman
Games. She played in the IWLCA Capital and Champions Cup and was
named the 2008 and 2009 Elite Club Player of the Year for
North/Central Florida. McCord excels in the classroom as well,
having been named an Academic All-American as a junior and is
currently in the top 7% of her class. She is a member of the
Fellowship of Christian Athletes and enjoys teaching Sign Language
to elementary and middle school students.
Maegan Meritz * Farmingdale, NY * Farmingdale High School
* Long Island Yellow Jackets
Meritz is a four-year member of the Farmingdale Dalers Lacrosse
team, having played for both Tracy Wiener and current coach Shari
Campbell. Meritz helped lead the Dalers to five-consecutive Long
Island Championships and to the 2009 and 2010 Class A State
Championship titles. Meritz was awarded the Unsung Hero Award from
her team in 2008 and was named Honorable Mention All-County in
2009. She is a five-year member of the Long Island Yellow Jackets
club, having won many College Showcase Tournaments throughout her
tenure as a Yellow Jacket. Meritz was named First Galaxy Team in
2009. She has also been a four-year member of the Farmingdale
soccer team, having gone to the Nassau County semifinals three
years in a row, playing for Dave Otto. She is currently the captain
of the team and was named All-Class. She also plays club soccer for
the Massapequa Freedom for Mark Krantz. The team is currently
ranked ninth in the state of New York. She is a four-year member of
the Farmingdale basketball team, playing for Pete Cerone. While
being a three-sport athlete, Meritz strives in the classroom as
well. She has held GPA honors throughout her time at Farmingdale
and is currently taking college courses to pursue her dream of
becoming a Veterinarian.
Mikki Offit * Bethesda, Md. * Holton Arms School *
Capital Lacrosse
Offit is a double threat, having been a four-year starter in both
lacrosse and field hockey. In lacrosse, she was named to the
Maximum Rising Junior Showcase All-Star Team as a junior, while
also being named All-ISL, First-Team All-Gazette and All-Met
Honorable Mention in 2010. She was named to the Under Armour
Underclassman Lacrosse Team as a sophomore while also earning the
Coachs Award from Holton Arms. In the National Lacrosse Tournament
held in Washington, D.C., Offit was named to Team 4 in her
sophomore season and team 1 as a junior. She is a two-time captain
of the Holton Arms field hockey team, while also being named
All-Met Honorable Mention in Field Hockey as a sophomore and
All-ISL in Field Hockey in her freshman and sophomore seasons. Shes
actively involved in Student Council and was recently inducted in
the Holton Athletic Association.
