DENVER – University of Denver women's lacrosse has added Katrina Dowd as volunteer assistant coach, head coach Liza Kelly announced today.
"Katrina was a tremendous player and leader at Northwestern," Kelly said. "She brings a lot of enthusiasm as she begins her coaching career, and we are happy to have her joining the Pioneers."
Dowd joins the Pioneers after playing four years at Northwestern, where she helped the Wildcats win three-straight NCAA Championships from 2007-09. The two-time IWLCA First Team All-American was selected to the NCAA All-Tournament Team three times, was voted NCAA Tournament MVP in 2009 and is the NCAA Tournament career leader with 45 goals. Dowd was also a finalist for the Tewaaraton Award in 2010.
Dowd graduated from Northwestern in May 2010 ranked fourth in Wildcat history in goals (209), sixth in points (267), and eighth in ground balls (113), caused turnovers (57) and draw controls (83).
Dowd is a member of the United States National Team, along with DU assistant coach Devon Wills.
