Fifield's Fiver Pushes Richmond by St. Joe's

- Caitlin Fifield had five goals as first-place Richmond used a second-half push to down Saint Joe's, 12-6, Friday afternoon at Robins Stadium on senior day.

The Spiders moved to 8-7 overall and 5-0 in conference play. The win secured a spot in the A-10 Tournament held in Philadelphia in two weeks.

The score was knotted at 3-all at the break, as Richmond's goals came from Fifield, Anne Ryan and Hayley Ross.

The Spiders then exploded for seven goals in six minutes to take a commanding 10-4 lead with 17 minutes remaining. Fifield and Ryan accounted for the Spiders' last two tallies.

Reigning A-10 Player of the Week Fifield ended her stellar day with five goals, one assist, six ground balls, two draw controls and three caused turnovers.

Julianne Nicola, Hayley Ross and Ryan had two goals apiece, while Danielle Schaevitz added one.

Defender Taylor Blazer had five ground balls, five draws and four caused turnovers.

Richmond outshot the Hawks, 29-13 and won the draw 14-6.

The Spiders travel to No. 11 Massachusetts for a noon draw Sunday.
