Surging Richmond Holds Off Temple for Fourth Straight Win

PHILADELPHIA -- Richmond scored 10 first-half goals and withstood a Temple rally to down the Owls, 13-9, for its fourth-straight win Sunday afternoon in Philadelphia.
The Spiders improved to 7-7 overall and are tied for first place with a spotless 4-0 mark in A-10 play.
Richmond started the game in style, scoring two goals within the first minute. Each team went goal for goal with Richmond having the 4-3 edge with 19 minutes left in the first.
The Spiders then exploded for six unanswered tallies to take a commanding 10-3 lead into the break. Temple outscored Richmond 4-1 to start the last frame to cut the deficit to 11-7 but Richmond's Danielle Schaevitz added a tally to give the Spiders' back breathing room.
The Owls would score twice more, but Richmond's dominance in the
first half withstood the Temple rally.
Julianne Nicola, Caitlin Fifield and Hayley Ross each had a hat trick for Richmond, while Nicola added three assists.
The Spiders outshot Temple 31-22 and won the draw 15-9. Victoria Roebuck had nine saves in the net.
Richmond hosts Saint Joe's Friday for senior day at 4:00 p.m. at Robins Stadium. Nine seniors will be honored in a pregame ceremony.
