Richmond Rocks St. Bonaventure in A-10 Clash

RICHMOND, Va. -- Richmond scored two goals within the first minute and never looked back en route to a dominating 20-5 performance over St. Bonaventure Sunday afternoon at Robins Stadium.
The Spiders improve to 5-7 overall and 2-0 in conference play.
Richmond was in control from first whistle, going up 5-0 in the game's first five minutes. The Bonnies would get on the board with a Lauren Michaels tally, but Richmond took an overwhelming 14-1 edge at the break, after eight consecutive goals.
Richmond had 13 first-half draw controls and scored after every possession control. Gabi Wiegand had five of Richmond's 14 first frame goals and ended with a Richmond best and career-high seven tallies. Wiegand was one goal short of tying teammate Mary Flowers for most goals in a game this season. (Flowers recorded eight in a win over American).
The Bonnies had four second half goals, but the damage had been done. Nine different Spiders scored, with Caitlin Fifield following with a hat trick.
Flowers had four assists to go along with two goals and seven draw controls.
The Spiders scored their most goals against a conference
opponent since 2009. (Richmond beat GW 21-12, Apr. 10 that
Richmond out shot the Bonnies 30-13 and recorded a game-best 32 ground balls. Richmond out drew St. Bonaventure 19-8.
The Spiders travel to La Salle Friday for a 4:00 p.m.
