BU Continues Success Against Ivy Foes

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Senior Erica Baumgartner,
junior Hannah Frey and sophomore Danielle Etrasco helped lift the
Boston University lacrosse team to a 12-5 win over Yale at Reese
Stadium on Wednesday evening. With the win, the Terriers improved
to 4-4 overall and 3-0 against Ivy League teams.
After trailing 4-3 with seven minutes remaining in the opening half, BU went on an 8-0 run to take an 11-4 lead with 10:26 left in the game. In the second stanza, the Terriers held Yale (1-6) to just one goal, the fewest since allowing one marker in the first half against New Hampshire on May 6, 2010.
Baumgartner recorded a game-high six points (2g, 4a), as she tied Xan Weitzel ('10) for second place on the program's all-time assists list (106). The Silver Spring, Md., native is now just two helpers away from tying Mary Beth Miller ('06) for most in program history.
Etrasco and Frey both added four goals, while junior Molly Swain collected two goals and classmate Catie Tilton recorded an assist. Freshman goalkeeper Christina Sheridan made eight saves.
The Terriers outshot Yale by a 27-22 margin and controlled ground balls, 23-15, and draw controls, 10-9. BU was 1-for-5 on free-position shots, while Yale was 3-for-9.
