Richmond Sets Program Record with 24 Goals

FARMVILLE, Va. -- Richmond scored a program-record 24 goals, including 19 in the second half, in a 24-14 win over Longwood Wednesday night.
Mary Flowers led Spider scoring with six goals. Gabi Wiegand added five, while Julianne Nicola added a hat trick. In total, nine Spiders scored for Richmond. Wiegand dished a season-high three assists, while Nicola added two. Five Spiders had dishes.
After the score was knotted 5-5 at the break, Richmond exploded for 19 goals to end with a season-high and program record 24 tallies for the game.
The Spiders notched a season-high 48 shots, while earning a game-best 22 draw controls. Richmond also had 25 ground balls, led by Flowers' team-high five. Defender Taylor Blazer had five draw controls and a team-high four caused turnovers.
Goalkeeper Victoria Roebuck had nine saves in the net.
Richmond hosts Towson at 1 p.m. Saturday at Robins Stadium.
