Peters, Dinn Net Three Each in St. Joe's Win

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. -- The Saint Joseph's
women's lacrosse team took a 5-4 lead at the end of the first half
and held on to defeat Monmouth, 11-6, on Sunday afternoon. Jen
Peters and Grace Dinn led the Hawks with three goals apiece.
Monmouth got on the board first at the 15:08 mark and the Hawks
traded goals for a 2-2 score with 12:50 remaining after a goal by
Dinn.
MU then scored two consecutive goals to take a 4-2 lead, but Saint
Joseph's answered back with three goals from Gwen Nihill, Meghan
McDevitt, and Carly Kindbom for a 5-4 lead at halftime.
The Hawks opened scoring in the second half on a free-position goal
by Dinn and made it 8-4 with back-to-back goals from Peters.
Monmouth's Sam Lillo scored at the 17:33 mark, but Nihill answered
with her second score of the game. Lillo added another for MU at
10:33, but the Hawks held Monmouth off for the remainder, while
adding two goals to ice the win, 11-6.
Nihill finished with two goals and an assist, while Kindbom had two
goals and McDevitt added a goal and two assists.
Goalkeeper Kaitlin LaBarbera made nine saves between the pipes.
Saint Joseph's (3-3) returns to action when it hosts Old Dominion
on Saturday. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. at Finnesey Field.
