Sarcinello Sizzles as LaSalle Beats Davidson 14-12 in OT

DAVIDSON, N.C. - Sophomore Melanie Sarcinello
had a breakout performance, adding eight goals against Davidson,
including the game-winner, as the Explorers defeated the Wildcats
in overtime, 14-12.
Taylor Ruland and Samantha Tulskie each added a pair of goals,
while Nora McGurkin and Allison Herman each notched one for La
Salle.
La Salle tallied the first four goals of the game, with three of
them coming from Sarcinello. The Explorers maintained an 8-4
lead going into the half.
Herman opened scoring in the second half for the Explorers, but
then the Wildcats went on a 5-0 run to tie the game at 9-all with
9:03 remaining to play.
The contest was back and forth from there, with Sarcinello adding
the tying goal with less than a minute in regulation to send the
game into overtime.
It was Sarcinello who would break the tie in overtime with an
unassisted shot with 3:27 to play. Ruland added one more goal for
La Salle before the game was over.
With the victory, the Explorers are now 4-2 on the season.
La Salle will return home to McCarthy Stadium to face Monmouth on
Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
