Ninth-Ranked JMU Opens with Win

HARRISONBURG, Va. -- The ninth-ranked James
Madison women's lacrosse team scored six of the game's first seven
goals and went to beat George Washington 12-5 Saturday afternoon at
the JMU Lacrosse Complex.
It was the season-opening game for the Dukes, now 1-0, while GW
dropped to 1-3 with its third straight loss.
The Dukes got two goals each from redshirt sophomore Casey Ancarrow
(Jarrettsville, Md./John Carroll), junior Caitlin McHugh
(Westminster, Md./Mercy) and junior Monica Zabel (Ellicott City,
Md./Mt. Hebron). Zabel also contributed a game-high four
assists.
GW got two goals each from redshirt senior Mia Breheny (Alexandria,
Va./Bishop Ireton) and sophomore Nicole Lacey (Marriottsville,
Md./Marriotts Ridge).
The Dukes out-shot GW 47-13. JMU goalkeeper redshirt junior
goalkeeper Alex Menghetti (Media, Pa./Penncrest) finished with
three saves, while GW senior goalkeeper Liz Hoffman (Owings Mills,
Md./Beth Tfiloh) made 18 stops.
