Stanford's Ford Nabs Top MPSF Nod

STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford senior midfielder
Leslie Foard was named the MPSF Player of the Week for her role in
the Stanford win over No. 10 Notre Dame. The 13th-ranked Cardinal
defended its home turf by knocking off the higher ranked Irish in a
thrilling 13-12 victory.
Foard scored two goals and contributed one assist ton contribute to
the balanced Cardinal scoring attack. Both of her goals came on
free-position shots after drawing fouls driving towards the
net.
In addition to her scoring, the Cincinnati, Ohio native was active
beyond what is seen on the stat sheet. Foard earned five draw
controls, including twice at the faceoff when she was able to
control her own draw. The five draw controls were the most from
either team and helped Stanford gain much needed possession in the
second half.
The MPSF honor is the first of Foard's career and the first for a
Stanford player since April 26 of last year when Claire Hubbard was
honored.
Next up for the Cardinal is an early-season MPSF matchup with
Fresno State at Cagan Stadium on Wednesday night. Sunday, the
Cardinal will face another top-10 foe when No. 5 Syracuse comes to
town.
