BU Announces Incoming Freshman Class

BOSTON – The Boston University lacrosse
team will welcome seven newcomers to the squad's 2011 roster, head
coach Liz Robertshaw announced. The Class of 2014 joins 16
returning letter winners who helped the Terriers capture their
sixth straight America East title in 2010.
The additions include attackers Kameryn Downing and Elizabeth
Morse; midfielder Becca Church; defenders Shannon Gilroy, Sydney
Godett and Christie Hart; and goalkeeper Christina Sheridan.
"The Class of 2014 is a good, hard-working group of
student-athletes," said Robertshaw. "They have championship
experience and will help the team reach the next level. It's a
strong class at each position and they're a group that will do the
things we believe in here at BU."
Becca Church (M • 5'6" • Madison, Conn. • Daniel
Hand)
Four-year member of the Daniel Hand High School girls' lacrosse
team ... Helped lead the Tigers to the Southern Connecticut
Conference title in 2007, 2008 and 2010 ... Member of the All-SCC
First Team as a senior and garnered second-team honors as a
sophomore and freshman ... Named first team all-state as a senior
and tabbed second-team all-state as a junior.
Robertshaw on Church: "Becca is a great midfielder who had a
stellar senior year. She has a ton of potential and I'm excited to
see what she can do. I'm looking for her to make an immediate
impact on the team."

Served as team captain for Cherry Creek High School as a senior ...
Helped lead the team to the state championship in 2007, 2008 and
2010 ... Named a US Lacrosse First Team All-American and Academic
All-American as a senior ... Garnered team MVP honors and was a
finalist for school's athlete of the year ... Two-time first-team
all-state member (2009, 2010) and three-time All-Centennial League
First Team member (2008-10) ... Received US Lacrosse All-America
honorable mention accolades as a junior.

Robertshaw on Gilroy: "Shannon comes from a great family of
student-athletes here at BU with her brothers Matt (2005-09) and
Kevin (2008-pres.) playing for the men's ice hockey team. She has a
passion for the University and the game. She's an aggressive
defender who will make big stops and was extremely instrumental to
her team's success."

Served as captain as a senior at Masconomet Regional High School
... Named the 2010 Cape Ann League Player of the Year and
Masconomet's Female Athlete of the Year ... Two-time member of the

infectious attitude. She's the type of person who can be really
aggressive on the field and then give you a big smile afterwards.

outstanding female athlete of the year ... Three-time member of the
All-Met Second Team (2008-10) ... As a junior, named the WCAC

Robertshaw on Sheridan: "Christina is a great goalie who brings a
tremendous amount of experience from a championship-winning
program. She has an excellent work ethic and attitude and will be a
great complement to Kim Elsworth in the cage."
