Boston College Adds Acacia Walker to Staff

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College Head Lacrosse
Coach, Bowen Holden, has announced the hiring of Acacia Walker as
associate head coach.
"I am pleased to announce the hiring of Acacia as Associate Head
Coach," said Holden. "I am confident that she will have an
immediate impact on the program, as her passion for the sport and
infectious personality are inspiring. She has had incredible
success as a student-athlete and collegiate coach, and I have no
doubt she is the right person at the right time for our
program."
Walker has spent the last two seasons as the Associate Head Coach
at the University of Massachusetts, where the team won two
consecutive Atlantic 10 Conference Championships. Her
responsibilities included handling the offense, recruiting
coordination, team travel and budget management, as well as, video
breakdown.
Prior to working at UMass, Walker spent three years as an
assistant at Northwestern University. She was an instrumental part
of the success as Wildcats won three consecutive NCAA National
Championships and three consecutive ALC Conference
Championships.
A 2005 graduate of Maryland, Walker played lacrosse for the
Terrapins from 2002-05. She finished her four-year career with 183
points and eighth on the all-time assist leaders list at Maryland.
Walker was also a two-time All-ACC selection and an IWLCA
Collegiate All-American selection in 2003 and 2005. She was also a
two-time Tewaaraton Award candidate, which is the award for the
Collegiate National Player of the Year.
A native of Sherwood Forest, MD, Walker continues to compete on
the lacrosse field. She was a member of the 2009 USA Women's
Lacrosse World Cup team that won gold in Prague as well as Most
Valuable Player on the 1999 U-19 National Team that won gold in
Australia. She continues to compete as a member of the 2010 US
Elite Team.
"With the staff and team we have in place, the future continues to
look very bright for BC lacrosse," said Holden. "I could not be
more excited about what lies ahead and know that our championship
goals will be reached in the years to come."
