Syracuse Faces James Madison in Quarters
from press release
HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Syracuse women's lacrosse
team is one win away from a return trip to the Final Four. The
10th-ranked Orange takes on No. 7 James Madison on Saturday at 1
p.m. in Harrisonburg, Va. in the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals.
Syracuse enters the contest with a 14-6 record, while James
Madison, the tournament No. 5 seed, is 17-2.
The Orange defeated Georgetown, 15-8, in the first round of the
tournament, while the Dukes advanced with a come-from-behind 9-8
victory against Stanford. Syracuse is making its fourth consecutive
appearance in the quarterfinals, while James Madison is making its
first appearance in the final eight since the 2006 season.
Saturday's game marks the first meeting between the two
schools.
Two members of the Orange are chasing statistical milestones.
Junior goalkeeper Liz Hogan (Victor, N.Y.) needs four saves to set
the single-season school record. She enters Saturday's game with
190 stops this season. In addition, senior Christina Dove (Bel Air,
Md.) is six points away from recording 100 points this season. It
would mark the second 100-point season of her career and the fourth
100-point campaign in school history.
Saturday's game will be broadcast on WJPZ 89.1FM in the Syracuse
area and on Orange All Access on SUathletics.com. Subscriptions to
Orange All Access are available at daily, monthly and yearly rates.
