No. 18 Ohio State Rolls Past Detroit Mercy

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Rachael Cornicello had a
career-high six points and three others had five in No. 18 Ohio
State's win over Detroit, 21-4, Sunday afternoon at Jesse Owens
Memorial Stadium. Maghan Beaudrault (4g, 1a), Alayna Markwordt (2g,
3a) and Brittney Zerhusen (3g, 2a) each put up five points as the
Buckeyes (9-6) posted their largest margin of victory since they
defeated the Titans (6-11) by the same score a year ago.
Detroit, who is in its second year as a varsity program, played
with the same 11 players the entire 60 minutes because of an
injury-depleted roster. Ohio State remained at full strength.
The Buckeyes close out the regular season next weekend at John's
Hopkins in Baltimore, Md. Ohio State will face the Blue Jays at
noon Saturday live on ESPNU. Hopkins is currently third in the ALC,
followed by the Buckeyes in fourth. With an OSU win, the teams
would be tied for third heading into the conference tournament May
6-8 in Columbus.
