No. 18 Ohio State Rolls Past Detroit Mercy

from press release

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Rachael Cornicello had a career-high six points and three others had five in No. 18 Ohio State's win over Detroit, 21-4, Sunday afternoon at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. Maghan Beaudrault (4g, 1a), Alayna Markwordt (2g, 3a) and Brittney Zerhusen (3g, 2a) each put up five points as the Buckeyes (9-6) posted their largest margin of victory since they defeated the Titans (6-11) by the same score a year ago.

Detroit, who is in its second year as a varsity program, played with the same 11 players the entire 60 minutes because of an injury-depleted roster. Ohio State remained at full strength.

The Buckeyes close out the regular season next weekend at John's Hopkins in Baltimore, Md. Ohio State will face the Blue Jays at noon Saturday live on ESPNU. Hopkins is currently third in the ALC, followed by the Buckeyes in fourth. With an OSU win, the teams would be tied for third heading into the conference tournament May 6-8 in Columbus.
