from staff reports
BOSTON -- The Boston College women's lacrosse
team, which has narrowly missed in upset bids against ACC foes
Maryland and Duke, got its upset Wednesday, 18-11 over No.
17-ranked Boston University.
The Eagles, who snapped a five-game losing streak against their
in-state rivals, improved to 9-4. The Terriers fell to 7-7.
Senior attacker Lauren Costello started the day off on the right
foot for the Eagles by tallying the first goal of the game for BC.
The Eagles would respond after a Terrier score with freshman Brooke
Blue grabbing her 30th score of the year. BU kept the pressure on
the Eagles, and rallied to set the score at 5-3 before BC came
back. Juniors Hannah Alley and Kristin Igoe and sophomore Sam
Taylor helped the Eagles fight back to make it a 6-5 game. Blue,
Costello and sophomore Brittany Wilton tallied additional scores
for Boston College before the end of the period to help lift the
visiting team to an 8-7 lead at halftime.
After a Terriers' score to open the second half, the Eagles
responded with three goals from Costello, Igoe and Alley in under
two minutes to give BC a lead that it would never look back on. For
the rest of the game, the Eagles did their best to maintain
possession and keep BU off the scoreboard. Wilton and Blue added
goals for the Eagles at 13:19 and senior Peyton Killeen notched her
12th goal of the year at 11:42 to give BC a 14-10 lead. Late goals

Eagles outshot the Terriers, 30-25.
With her opening goal, senior Lauren Costello moved into first
