Landy Helps Keep BU on Top in America East

BALTIMORE, Md. -- The No. 17 Boston University lacrosse team scored the first six goals on tallies from six different players before going on to post a 12-8 road victory over UMBC on Saturday at UMBC Stadium. Senior Traci Landy recorded five goals for the Terriers, who remain undefeated in America East play at 3-0 and improve to 7-6 overall.

After its strong start, BU jumped out to a 9-2 lead with under eight minutes left before halftime, but The Retrievers reeled off five straight goals spanning the halves to make it a 9-7 contest with 11:30 to play. The Terriers, however, closed out the victory by scoring three of the game's final four goals.

Senior McKinley Curro had a three-point effort (2g, 1a) for the Terriers, while classmate Xan Weitzel (1g, 1a) and sophomores Hannah Frey (2g) and Catie Tilton (2a) each registered two points on the day. In goal, senior Rachel Klein made seven saves.

BU outshot UMBC, 28-20, and collected 13 of the game's 22 draw contols.

UMBC (9-5, 2-2 America East), which held a 16-13 edge in ground balls, was paced by a three-goal performance off the bench by Bria Phillips.
