Hoyas Have No Trouble with Cincy

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Georgetown University
women's lacrosse squad downed the University of Cincinnati Bearcats
(4-6, 0-3 BIG EAST) 21-8 Friday afternoon at Nippert Stadium. The
Hoyas started strong and didn't look back with 13 players scoring.
Defeating the Bearcats improves Georgetown to 6-5 on the season and
a perfect 4-0 in BIG EAST play.
"This was another great team effort," said Head Coach Ricky Fried.
"We once against had contributions from a number of people which
shows that we are multi-dimensional on offense."
Georgetown opened with a 4-0 run including a goal by Jacqueline
Giles (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron) from senior Sarah Seats
(Baltimore, Md./St. Paul's School) off of a restart. After a
Bearcat score at 25:19, Giles added another from Seats and then
Seats tallied two of her own.
Cincinnati scored, but it was once again Giles that found the back
of the cage to make the score 8-2. Giles and Seats accounted for
seven of Georgetown's first 10 points in the game.
Giles's goal at 15:04 sparked a 6-0 run to put the Hoyas up by 11.
The Bearcats managed three before the end of the half, but freshman
Dina Jackson (Potomac, Md./Bullis) scored her fifth of the season
to make it 14-5 at the break.
The second half started with a 4-0 run including Giles' fourth goal
of the game. Cincinnati stopped the run at 17:01, but GU came back
as Danielle Van Fossan (Morristown, N.J./Chatham) found the back of
the cage and Jackson tallied her second on the afternoon.
After two UC scores, Jackson made it a hat trick for the day
hitting the goal as the keeper came out in the closing seconds of
the game making the final 21-8.
Giles led the way for the Hoyas with four goals, while Jackson
added three. Seats had four points for the game including two goals
and a team-best two assists. Georgetown outshot Cincinnati 33-18
and had eight more draw controls (21-13). The Hoyas also forced 21
Bearcat turnovers. Caitlin Formby (Towson, Md./Notre Dame Prep) was
awarded the win in goal with eight saves to her credit.
