No. 16 Hofstra Open Conference Slate

from press release

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y.
- The Hofstra Women's Lacrosse team will open Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) play this weekend when they host William & Mary on Friday and Old Dominion on Sunday.

Friday's contest will feature two nationally-ranked teams as Hofstra moved up to #16 in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) poll and the Tribe is #19. The game against William & Mary begins at 7 p.m., while Sunday's encounter with the Lady Monarchs starts at 1 p.m.

In addition, Friday's game will serve as the second annual Friends of Jaclyn Game and Hofstra will celebrate "Senior Day" prior to the game against ODU on Sunday.

Friday's game, in conjunction with Friends of Jaclyn Week, is to help bring awareness of pediatric brain tumors and to help raise funds to support the growth of FOJ (Friends of Jaclyn). We encourage families and teams to participate in this great event.

The gates will open at 6 p.m. with pre-game activities including face painting and the Hofstra bounce house. Donations will be accepted at the main entrance of Shuart Stadium and there will also be an opportunity to bid on a Hofstra Women's Lacrosse gift basket. 100 percent of the proceeds raised will go to support the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation.

Prior to Sunday's game Hofstra will honor its eight seniors as Bryana Borrelli, Mary Cuddihy, Liz Falco, Corrine Gandolfi, Ashley Jones, Courtney O'Connor, K'Leigh Vanaman and Sandy Wasserbach near the end of the Pride careers.

Hofstra (6-3) ended its tough non-conference schedule with a heartbreaking 14-13 double overtime loss at #11 Stanford last Wednesday. All three of Hofstra's losses this season are by one goal and each came at the hands of a team ranked in the top 11 in the nation (13-12 to #8 Notre Dame on 2/23 and 6-5 to #4 Penn on 3/10).

Senior midfielder and returning All-American Corrine Gandolfi continues to lead the Pride in every statistical category as she has team-bests of 29 goals, 10 assists, 39 points, 24 ground balls, 41 draw controls and 17 caused turnovers.

William & Mary enters Friday's game with a 5-4 record after dropping a 11-8 decision to #14 Penn State on March 28.

Old Dominion is 2-4, having dropped a 22-7 contest at #4 Virginia on March 31.
