Denver's Flury Named MPSF Player of Week
from press release
DENVER – University of Denver lacrosse player Ali
Flury (Arnold, Md.) was named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation
Player of the Week, the MPSF announced.
Flury, a senior midfielder, had a game-high five points from a hat trick and two assists, including one on Melissa Maier's (Farmingdale, N.Y.) game-winning goal to defeat California in double overtime last weekend.
Currently, Flury leads the MPSF in goals per game (3.0), shots per game (6.58) and free-position goals per game (1.0), and is third in caused turnovers (1.58) and points per game (3.33). Flury's 36 goals this season rank 10th in the nation, and her 187 career goals are second among active NCAA Division I players.
This marks the third time that Flury has earned MPSF Player of the Week honors during her career at Denver and the fifth time a DU player has claimed the award this season. Senior Lexi Sanders (Feb. 15 and March 29), sophomore Lauren Ciccomascolo (Feb. 1) and redshirt freshman Kara Secora (March 8) have also earned the award.
The Pioneers play the next three games at home, beginning with UC Davis on April 9 and No. 11 Stanford on April 11.
