Hofstra's Maier Named CAA Rookie of Week

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. - Hofstra University freshman midfielder
Jill Maier was named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Rookie
of the Week, it was announced today.
It marks Maier's third honor this season as she previously was
named the WomensLax.com Rookie of the Week on March 15 and the CAA
Rookie of the Week on March 16.
Maier had the most complete game of her young career in the Pride's
21-8 victory over Oregon last Monday. Maier, who ranks sixth on the
Pride in scoring this season, had the first hat trick of her career
against the Ducks and also added an assist. She put together an
all-around solid outing as well as she added two draw controls, two
caused turnovers and one ground ball. The goals, points, ground
ball, draw control and caused turnover totals all either tied or
established new career-highs for Maier.
For the season, Maier has eight goals, five assists, 13 points,
three ground balls, nine draw controls and three caused
turnovers.
Hofstra returns to action on Wednesday when they travel to Palo
Alto, CA to take on nationally-ranked Stanford at 6 p.m. (PST).
