Flury Powers Denver Past George Mason

FAIRFAX, Va. - Nine points (7G, 2A) from senior
midfielder Ali Flury carried the Denver Pioneers past the George
Mason Patriots by a final score of 17-9 in nonconference women's
lacrosse action on Friday afternoon at George Mason Stadium.
The Patriots fell behind early and were unable to catch up. Denver
took a 4-0 lead with 10:59 remaining in the first half after an
unassisted goal by sophomore attacker Lauren Ciccomascolo. After
the Patriots took a timeout, sophomore midfielder Emily Ellisen
scored with 10:36 left in the first half to cut the deficit to
three. George Mason cut the deficit to two goals at 5-3 and 7-5 but
was unable to close the gap.
Senior attacker Megan Udovich came off the bench to score three
goals to lead the Patriots' attack. Junior Madalyn Jamison added to
her team-leading assist total with two in the contest. Senior
goalkeeper Sara Longobucco played all 60 minutes and made eight
saves.
Flury led the Pioneers in goals with seven. Senior attacker Lexi
Sanders tallied a game-high seven assists. Sophomore Ashley Harman
and senior Katie Gold split time in goal for Denver. Harman started
and played the first 46 minutes, while Gold played the final 14
minutes.
Mason's overall record dropped to 3-5 following the loss. Denver
improved to 7-3 with the win.
