UVA's Kalkstein Earns Second ACC Honor

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia senior midfielder
Brittany Kalkstein has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference
Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week for the period ending March 21,
announced today. Kalkstein scored five goals and accounted for
seven points in a pair of Cavalier victories on the road last week
over nationally ranked opponents.
Kalkstein, who is earning her second player of the week honor this
season, scored once and collected five ground balls in a 14-7 win
at No. 18 William & Mary (March 17), and followed that with a
career-day against No. 13 Princeton (March 20). The Baltimore, Md.,
native tallied a career-high six points on four goals and two
assists in another 14-7 win for the sixth-ranked Cavaliers.
Kalkstein combined for seven points on five goals and two assists,
a team-high seven forced turnovers, four draw controls, and five
ground balls for the week.
Kalkstein in the first women's lacrosse player to earn multiple
player of the week honors this season and the first Cavalier to do
so since Tyler Leachman earned the honors on Feb. 24 and April 7 of
the 2006 season.
No. 5 Virginia returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts
in-state foe No. 20 James Madison at 7 p.m.
