Ivy Tabs Yale's Flatley for Conference Honor
from press release
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Junior midfielder/defender Kaitlyn
Flatley (Berwyn, Pa.) came through for Yale in dramatic fashion
this past week, and her exploits earned her recognition as the Ivy
League Offensive Player of the Week Monday. Flatley had a six-point
week, including the game-winning goal with nine seconds left
Wednesday as Yale beat Brown 8-7 in the Bulldogs’ Ivy League
opener. Flatley had two goals and an assist in that game, then
followed it up by getting her first career hat trick Saturday vs.
No. 5 Penn.
An honorable mention All-Ivy League selection last season because
of her work as a defender, Flatley has started seeing more time as
a midfielder this season and has delivered a career-high eight
goals on just 16 shots. She remains one of Yale’s top
defensive players, and had three caused turnovers and four ground
balls this past week. She helped the Bulldogs hold Penn to just
seven goals, after the Quakers had scored a combined 30 in their
previous two games.
Flatley leads Yale in caused turnovers with 10 and is tied for the
team lead in ground balls with 13. Last year, she tied for the Ivy
League lead with 14 caused turnovers in league games.
Flatley, the first Bulldog to earn a Player of the Week honor from
the Ivy League this year, is in Pierson College at Yale. She
attended Conestoga High.
