Grace is Golden in the Eyes of the Colonial

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - After an outstanding pair of
performances in last week's games, William and Mary junior
midfielder Grace Golden has been selected as the Colonial Athletic
Association Co-Player of the Week. It marks the third time this
season that a Tribe player has garnered the award, as Sarah Jonson
(2/23) and Mary Zulty (3/2) previously earned the distinction.
Golden shares this week's honor with Towson senior midfielder
Hillary Fratzke.
A Tewaaraton Trophy Watch List selection, Golden totaled 10 points
on eight goals and two assists in last week's contests against No.
6 Virginia and Virginia Tech. The Manhasset, N.Y., native also
recorded five draw controls, four ground balls and three caused
turnovers.
Golden's best performance of the week came in the 23-16 victory at
Virginia Tech when she scored a career-high seven points (5g, 2a)
to go with three ground balls, two draw controls and three caused
turnovers. Earlier in the week, she tallied a game-high three goals
and three assists against the Cavaliers.
Golden currently ranks second on the team with 17 goals and is
third on the team with 22 points. Additionally, she ranks second on
the squad with 23 ground balls, 13 draw controls and 13 caused
turnovers.
With 106 career goals and 133 career points, she is rapidly closing
in on the program's all-time top-10 lists in both categories.
The 18th-ranked Tribe will return to action when it hosts
California on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
