Vermont Women Roar Past Marist

BURLINGTON, Vt. - Samantha Stern (Cherry Hill,
N.J.) and Natalie Jones (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) combined for seven
goals to lead the Vermont Catamounts past the Marist Red Foxes in
women's lacrosse action at Moulton Winder Field on Saturday
afternoon.
Stern finished the game with a team-high four goals, while Jones
added a hat trick and an assist. Teammate Megan MacDonald (Wayland,
Mass.) contributed five points on a pair of goals and three
assists.
Lauren Ciccrello and Jori Procaccini led Marist with four points
each. Both scored twice and picked up two assists.
The Catamounts rolled out to an 8-0 lead with 5:33 led in the first
half, behind three goals from Stern, and went into the break with a
9-1 advantage.
UVM extended its lead to 12-2 in the first 10 minutes of the second
half. Marist rallied at the 17:25 mark Procaccini scored off a feed
from Lindsay Rineferd and the Red Foxes rattled off five of the
next six goals to slice the lead to six, 13-7, with 4:09 remaining,
but could not complete the comeback.
The Catamounts, who were 2-for-10 in free position shots in a loss
to Siena on Wednesday, went 4-for-5 on 8m shots against the Red
Foxes. UVM out shot Marist 26-17 in the game.
Alyssa Littlin and Ashley Casiano combined for two saves in the
Marist goal, while Laura Barber (Middlebury, Vt.) was credited with
seven saves in her first action of the year for Vermont.
