No. 12 Towson Beats GW for Fourth Straight

TOWSON, Md. - Junior attacker Jess Dunn scored
a career-high four goals to lead the 12th-ranked Tigers (4-0) to
their fourth straight win, a 14-4 non-conference victory over
George Washington University (2-5) at rain-soaked Johnny
Unitas® Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Dunn scored three of her goals in the first half as the Tigers
sprinted out to a 10-2 half-time lead en route to their third
straight win over the Colonials.
"The weather was pretty tough today, but I thought we played well
today," Towson Coach Missy Doherty said. "Our defense did a good
job of causing turnovers and we have a lot of speed and talent on
the offense."
After the teams traded goals in the opening minute, the Tigers went
on a 4-0 run over the next seven minutes for a 5-1 advantage with
21:43 remaining in the first half. Dunn scored twice during the
spurt while seniors Jacie Kendall and Hillary Fratzke also
contributed a goal during the run.
With 21:06 remaining, sophomore attacker Megan Seidman scored off a
feed from freshman Hannah McLaughlin to narrow the margin to
5-2.
But, the Tigers answered by scoring eight consecutive goals over a
22-minute span to take a commanding 12-2 advantage early in the
second half. Dunn scored twice during the spurt while freshman
midfielder Ashley Waldron added a goal with two assists.
With 17:01 remaining, McLaughlin ended a 34-minute scoring drought
for the Colonials with her third goal of the season, an unassisted
marker past junior goalkeeper Kristy Hankinson.
Sophomore midfielder Katie Cloud and freshman attacker Ashleigh
Rohrback upped the Tiger advantage to 14-3 before freshman
midfielder Abby Sneeringer closed out the scoring with the first
goal of her career with 4:21 left.
While Dunn recorded her second "hat trick" of the season, Waldron
added a goal with two assists in the victory for the Tigers.
Kendall contributed a pair of goals as ten different Tigers scored
a goal.
Seidman led the Colonials with two goals while McLaughlin
contributed a goal with an assist. Junior goalkeeper Christine
Lovett made a career-high 14 saves for the Colonials in a losing
effort after entering the game with 14:51 remaining in the first
half. Junior goalkeeper Liz Hoffman started the game and posted
three saves while allowing eight goals.
The Tigers outshot George Washington by a commanding 40-11 margin
and forced the Colonials into 35 turnovers
