Unblemished Lehigh Travels to Bucknell

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh women's lacrosse team
will take its 4-0 record and head to Lewisburg on Friday evening as
the Mountain Hawks open the 2010 Patriot League schedule versus the
Bucknell Bison. Lehigh was last in action on Tuesday afternoon when
the Brown and White raced out to a 7-0 lead on Le Moyne and held
off a second-half rally by the Dolphins to earn a 14-8 victory.
Freshman ML DiNisco received her first start in goal for the
Mountain Hawks and sent back nine shots in 42 minutes of play,
while sophomore Kelly Draper and junior Lauren Dykstra led the
offense with four goals apiece.
Dykstra currently leads Lehigh with 13 goals this season, while
senior Inneke Carmola has scored ten and Draper has added seven.
Draper and junior Allison Thomas are the leaders in assists with
four apiece and Thomas has scooped up a team-leading 14 ground
balls. Sophomore Leigh Ann Torcivia has won 12 draw controls and
caused three turnovers, which ties Kenzie Dambach for the team
lead. DiNisco has stopped 15 shots this season and posted a goal
against average of 4.17, while senior Kelsy Ferris has sent back 12
shots in 125 minutes of action.
Bucknell has won just once this season, posting an 8-7 win over
Davidson on February 21. The Bison have since dropped four
straight, including a 13-11 setback versus Drexel on March 7 in
Lewisburg. Julie Braun has been the offensive star for Bucknell in
the early going with 15 goals and two assists, while Michelle Milot
has found the back of the net nine times and is tied for the team
lead in assists with Becca Devine (3). Braun also leads Bucknell in
ground balls (13), draw controls (25) and caused turnovers (8) and
Alyssa DeLorenz has stopped 72 shots in 360 minutes in goal.
Friday's game marks the 35th time Lehigh and Bucknell will meet in
women's lacrosse with the Brown and White leading the series 22-12.
The Bison have won three of the last four however, including a
come-from-behind win in Bethlehem a season ago. The Mountain Hawks
emerged victorious in the last meeting in Lewisburg by a score of
11-10 in 2008.
Lehigh's 4-0 start this season is its best since 2003, when the
Mountain Hawks also started 4-0. The Brown and White's last 5-0
start was the 1985 season when Lehigh began with eight straight
wins en route to a 13-3 campaign.
Lehigh and Bucknell will get things started at 7:00 on Friday
evening in Lewisburg.
