Coleman Sets Record as Fairfield Wins

HAMDEN, Conn. - The Fairfield University women's
lacrosse team got back to its winning ways Thursday afternoon with
a 14-12 win over non-conference host Quinnipiac University. The win
improves the Stags record to 4-1 on the year, while the Bobcats
fall to 0-3
Fairfield jumped out to its largest lead of the game, 4-1, on a
Rigby free-position goal with 11:35 elapsed in the first-half. The
Bobcats scored the next five goals of the game, taking 6-4 lead
with 11:25 to play in the period. Rigby ended the Quinnipiac run
with a tally 19 seconds later, but the Bobcats answered with a
Devon Gibney goal with 9:57 to play in the half, and a 7-5 lead.
Rigby scored two more goals at the 7:39 and 4:51 mark to knot the
score 7-7. The Bobcats retook the lead on a goal from Gibney with
31 seconds to play, but Rigby answered 18 seconds later to send the
game to the intermission tied 8-8.
The Bobcats scored the first three goals of the second-half, taking
an 11-8 edge with 21:49 to play in the game. Quinnipiac held a
two-goal lead, 12-10, with 10:28 when Marissa Caroleo tallied what
would turn out to be the Bobcats final goal.
Fairfield trailed most of the way in the contest, including a 12-10

Rigby had her second eight-point game of the year, leading the
Stags with seven goals. Rigby also had six draw controls in the
victory. Coleman finished with six points, netting four goals and
two assists. Her first goal of the game made her the program's
all-time leading goal scorer. Mangan had four points for Fairfield,
with two goals and two assists.
Katie Keenan earned the win for Fairfield in net, making seven
saves in her 60 minutes of action.
The Stags are back in action on Tuesday, March 16 as they host
Lehigh at 3:30 p.m.
