from press release
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The University of Vermont
women's lacrosse team picked up its first win of the 2010 season
with a 21-13 victory over Jacksonville University at Ashley Sports
Complex on Wednesday afternoon.
Sophomore Allison Pfohl (Niskayuna, N.Y.) scored a career-high five

tallies to lead eight different scorers for the Catamounts. Senior
Kaitlyn Johnson (Meriden, N.H.) added a team-high three assists
among the eight players that recorded a helper.
"I am proud of the overall effort in today's game," said Vermont
head coach Jen Johnson. "We had some lapses at times, but our
offense had a strong day and was able to pick up the slack. It was
great to see a balanced attack on offense with 11 different players
putting points on the board for us."
Cassie Campasano, the reigning National Lacrosse Conference Player
of the Week, led Jacksonville with four goals. Freshman Ellyn
Spangenberg added at hat trick and two assists for the
Dolphins.
Jacksonville started the game with two quick goals in the first two
minutes, but the Catamounts answered with five consecutive tallies
to take a 5-2 lead with 18:57 remaining in the half.
The Dolphins rallied and knotted the game up at 7-7 with 7:39
showing on the clock, off Campasano's second tally of the
afternoon.
Vermont used a decisive seven-goal rally, including four from
Pfohl, that sandwiched halftime, to open up the game and allowed
UVM to double up the Dolphins, taking a 14-7 advantage with 18:44
left in the contest.
The Catamounts held off the Dolphins and outscored Jacksonville 9-6
in the second half.
Freshman Taylor Hadcock (Londonderry, N.H.) made 10 saves for
Vermont, while Karli Tobin and Hannah Collins combined for 12 saves
in the Jacksonville net.
Vermont went 4-for-8 on free position shots and out shot the
Dolphins 40-30. The Catamounts also won the battle of the ground
balls, picking up 40 to Jacksonville's 19. The Dolphins out drew
UVM 24-11 and were just 1-for-6 in free position shots.
Vermont moves to 1-2 on the year, while Jacksonville falls to 2-5
overall.
"We are excited to get our first win and look to take this momentum
into our game at Holy Cross."
Vermont returns north to take on Holy Cross on Saturday (March 13)
at 3 p.m. on Worcester, Mass.
