Secora Named MPSF Player of the Week

from press release

DENVER – Sophomore Kara Secora (Denver, Colo.) earned Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Player of the Week honors, the MPSF announced today.

Secora had a hat trick with two of the goals, including the game-winner, coming in overtime, as the Pioneers upset No. 9 Loyola on March 3.

Secora followed it up with two goals and two assists in DU’s victory over Holy Cross on March 5.

Secora is tied with teammate Bonnie Wells (Adelaide, Australia) for the MPSF lead with two game-winning goals. Secora is also ranked seventh with 0.88 assists per game and tied for ninth with 2.75 points per game.

This marks the third time this season that a Denver player has claimed MPSF Player of the Week honors. Sophomore midfielder Lauren Ciccomascolo (Ladera Ranch, Calif.) earned the award on Feb. 1, and senior midfielder Lexi Sanders (Greenwood Village, Colo.) won on Feb. 15.

The Pioneers enjoy some time off before resuming play against No. 20 Rutgers at Peter Barton Stadium on March 20 at 1 p.m. MT.
